If you’re a pharmacy assistant looking to grow your skills, knowledge, and career confidence, Pharmacy Connect 2025 is a must-attend event. For the first time, Pharmacy Connect will feature a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant Stream, offering real-world product training, leadership development opportunities, confidence-building sessions, and so much more.

Here are six essential skills pharmacy assistants will take away from this year’s pharmacy conference:

  1. Product confidence for everyday conversations

Sessions like “From Itch to Relief: Navigating Fungal Skin Infections” and “Unlocking the Science of Hydration for Dry Skin” offer evidence-based insights that will help pharmacy assistants understand common health conditions, recommend the right treatments, enhance customer care, and support product upselling. You’ll walk away better equipped in informed, confident health conversations with your customers.

  1. Stronger supplement sales techniques

The three-hour pharmacy assistant refresher training with Katy Johnson will dive into the Ask, Assess, Advise model for supplement sales. During this ever-popular session, pharmacy assistants can expect hands-on training, practical case studies, and interactive activities designed to boost your product knowledge, help you build customer trust, and drive meaningful sales results.

  1. Support women’s health and healthy ageing

Gain practical skills to confidently support women’s health across all life stages through targeted, evidence-based product recommendations through sessions covering:

  • menopause and urinary health;
  • joint and muscle health;
  • gut, skin, and hormonal wellbeing; and
  • much more!
  1. Communication and referral skills

In sessions like “Asking the Right Questions: OTC Analgesics”, you’ll learn how to identify when pharmacist referral is needed and when you can assist directly. These skills are essential for managing pain conversations, ensuring medicine safety, and supporting seamless team workflow.

  1. Leadership and professional growth

Join the Pharmacy Assistant 2.0 panel session to explore how pharmacy assistants can step into new roles as pharmacy evolves. The panel will cover skills in adapting to change, delivering professional services, and building high-performing teams. It’s the perfect session if you’re ready to step up and grow into a leadership role.

Also, don’t miss the PATY sessions and award ceremony where you’ll be inspired by some of the top pharmacy assistants in Australia.

  1. Gain confidence in your awareness of social health issues

Pharmacy assistants are often the first line of support in someone’s health journey, and sometimes that presence can change a life. A powerful session in providing pharmacy assistants with the tools to recognise and respond to signs of abuse, be sure to join “Recognising and responding to domestic and family violence in community pharmacy” to enhance your health literacy, compassionate communication, and community awareness. The skills you learn in this session could turn you into someone’s hero.

Don’t miss out!

Pharmacy Connect 2025 is more than a professional development event — it’s an opportunity to connect with the people shaping the future of community pharmacy. Whether you’re a pharmacist, pharmacy assistant, intern, student, owner or industry partner, the relationships you build at this conference can open doors, spark ideas, and accelerate your career or business.

Held from 3–5 September 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Sydney, the Pharmacy Connect 2025 theme, From Inspiration to Action, perfectly captures the value of networking. So how do you make the most of it?

Here’s how to network like a pro and maximise every opportunity at Pharmacy Connect 2025.

  1. Set your networking goals

Before you arrive at Pharmacy Connect 2025, figure out what your goals are. Do you want to:

  • Connect with Guild officials and pharmacy leaders?
  • Exchange ideas with pharmacy business owners?
  • Meet suppliers and technology partners in the Trade Exhibition?
  • Gain insights from peers working in similar roles?

Knowing your networking goals will help you prioritise events, target conversations, and walk away with meaningful connections.

  1. Be where the networking happens

Pharmacy Connect is built for connection. From casual conversations to structured social events, here are key moments you won’t want to miss:

  • Pre-conference workshops (Wednesday 3 September): Participate in smaller, interactive sessions across ownership, harm minimisation, full scope and more. These workshops offer built-in networking in a focused, hands-on setting.
  • Welcome Reception (Wednesday 3 September, 5:30pm–7:30pm): Kick off the conference with drinks, canapés, and live music in the bustling Trade Exhibition area for the Welcome Reception. This relaxed evening is a great way to reconnect with peers and meet new faces in the industry.
  • Guild Members’ Breakfast (Thursday 4 September, 7:00am–8:15am): If you’re a member of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, this is your chance to hear directly from Guild leadership, ask questions, and connect with fellow members over breakfast.
  • Women’s Networking Lunch (Thursday 4 September, 1:00pm–2:00pm): Join female pharmacy professionals and Guild officials for a casual stand-up lunch. This is an inclusive space for inspiration, shared experiences, and meaningful conversation.
  • Cocktail Party on Sydney Harbour (Thursday 4 September, 7:00pm–10:00pm): Network under the stars aboard Starship Sydney while enjoying breathtaking harbour views, a buffet dinner, and the announcement of the 2025 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year.
  • Morning teas and lunch breaks: Don’t underestimate the value of casual chats over coffee — some of the best connections happen in line for refreshments.

  1. Lead with curiosity, not just business cards

Great networkers ask great questions. Whether you’re chatting with a speaker, supplier, or fellow pharmacist, show interest in their experience and insights.

  • Ask about their pharmacy challenges and wins
  • Share a highlight from a session you attended and ask about theirs
  • Talk about your goals — others may offer advice or resources

People remember authenticity. A genuine, curious approach leaves a stronger impression than a rehearsed elevator pitch.

  1. Use the Pharmacy Connect conference app

Don’t leave networking to chance! Use the Pharmacy Connect 2025 app to:

  • Personalise your agenda
  • View speaker bios and session topics
  • See who else is attending and connect instantly
  • Submit questions to panels and sessions in real time
  • Keep up with live updates and event highlights

The app helps you stay organised, discover networking opportunities, and keep track of new contacts.

  1. Connect across roles and levels

Some of the most impactful conversations happen between peers, not just with high-profile speakers. Whether you’re a pharmacy intern talking to a pharmacy owner, a pharmacy student chatting with a pharmacy assistant, or a pharmacist learning from a tech rep, everyone brings a different perspective.

Cross-role conversations often lead to unexpected insights and opportunities.

At Pharmacy Connect 2025, networking isn’t just about exchanging names. It’s about building lasting connections that can enhance your professional journey. Whether you’re launching your career, expanding services, or future-proofing your business, your network is one of your greatest assets.

Book now and save up to $100 on Full Registration when you register before 30 June!
