Associate Professor Sarah Dineen Griffin

Associate Professor Sarah Dineen Griffin is a nationally and internationally recognised leader in pharmacy practice education and research focusing on pharmacist prescribing, common clinical conditions, the implementation of cognitive pharmaceutical services and self-care. She is the Program Convenor of the Graduate Certificate in Pharmacist Prescribing and Advanced Practice at The University of Newcastle. She has led trials across NSW and the ACT in pharmacist prescribing, supported by $8 million in NSW Government funding evaluating the clinical (safety and efficacy), economic, accessibility and implementation of pharmacist prescribing for urinary tract infections, minor skin conditions, and oral contraception. She holds senior professional national and international leadership roles including Vice President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Community Pharmacy Section Executive Committee, Director of the FIP Hub, and former Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (NSW). She was appointed by the Federal Minister for Health to an expert panel leading the Review of Australia’s National Medicines Policy. In 2024, she was awarded Fellowships of both the FIP and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and named Beryl Nashar Alumni of the Year.
