Professor Mark Naunton is President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and Head of the School of Health Sciences and Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Canberra, specialising in therapeutics and pharmacy practice. His career spans academia, community and hospital pharmacy, and accredited practice across Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the ACT. An experienced researcher and international collaborator, he completed postdoctoral work at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. His research focuses on expanding pharmacists’ scope of practice, particularly in general practice and residential aged care, and he has supervised multiple PhD candidates in these areas. A PSA member for over 20 years, Professor Naunton has held numerous leadership roles, including on state branch committees and the National Board since 2022. He is a passionate advocate for medication safety and the critical role pharmacists play in improving patient outcomes.
