Farooq Shaikh
Associate Professor Farooq Shaikh is Head of Pharmacy Discipline at Charles Sturt University, where he serves as the designated leader responsible for providing strategic, academic and professional leadership for the Pharmacy programs, including the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Pharmacy Practice and Prescribing. An overseas qualified and Australian-registered pharmacist, Farooq brings extensive experience in pharmacy education, curriculum design, accreditation processes and research. Complementing his leadership in education, he is a globally recognised expert neuropharmacologist specialising in translational neuroscience. His research focuses heavily on understanding the disease mechanisms of brain disorders, particularly epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease and discovering novel anti-epileptic drugs. Farooq has published over 150 high-impact, peer-reviewed articles and was named in the prestigious Elsevier-Stanford list of the world’s top 2% scientists.
